25 Magistrates Start Training Program at Palestinian Judicial Institute

The Basic Training Program started at Palestinian Judicial Institute with participation from Supreme Court Judge and Deputy Head of Board of PJI Iman Nasser Eddin, Director of PJI Judge Kifah Alshouli and Secretary General Assad Shunnar to provide training for the newly appointed magistrate judges, the training targeted 25 judges, of whom 7 are women judges.

Chief Justice Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar assured that the newly appointed judges are to support the number of judges in regular courts, representing 13% rise on number of judges.

Chancellor Abu Sharar drew attention that HJC finished receiving recruitment applications for First Instance judges, and the council in in the process of choosing the number of nominees; explaining that the new phase will witness new competition announcements for appointing new judges at Supreme and Appeals Courts.  

During the opening ceremony, Judge Alshouli welcomed the new judges wishing them all success.

It is worth noting that the nine-day training will address the following topics: judicial code of conduct, civil and criminal case management, drafting of verdicts, detention, and bail.

Judge Nasser Eddin assured that training aims to deepening the concepts of independence and neutrality of judges, improve judges' skills in using legal tools that facilitate their judicial work.

For his part, Judge Shunnar indicated that Magistrate judges are the judges of public because they reflect the image of judiciary and contribute in enhancing public trust in courts.

In order to support courts with new judges, new promotions will be carried out at different courts' levels in conjunction with sustained efforts conducted by Transitional High Judicial Council to fill the gap in administrative staff, clerks, notification officers, legal researchers.
