On Aug 21, 2016 – Eighteen Palestinian judges and fourteen prosecutors participated in workshop on "Juvenile Criminal Justice" in Jordan supported by SAWASYA Program/ UNDP.
Secretary General Raed Assaf represented high Judicial Council, Chief Prosecutors Miqdad Hadad and Judge Tarawneh from the Jordanian High Judicial Council and representatives of Jordanian Ministry of Social Affairs as well as other representatives from Ministry of Justice in both countries.
The workshop will last for four days which aims at upgrading awareness about legal materials related to juvenile justice and activating the role of judiciary and prosecution in implementing international standards and juvenile law in practical practices; in addition to developing their role in dealing with juvenile cases in social and psychological levels. The workshop also aims at informing the participants with the Jordanian juvenile police and prosecution model and their experience in juvenile judiciary especially in mediation, fair trial guarantees and alternative detention.
The trip will include field visits to Juvenile courts, juvenile police stations and juvenile facilities.
