On Feb24, 2016 – The Participants in the National Committee for Juvenile Justice meeting agreed on the importance of starting the implementation of the new Juvenile Justice Law 2016 in order to overcome obstacles that may face implementing it and to work in accordance to the National Strategic Plan between relevant institutions to guarantee partnership and integration in roles.
The meeting calls for the Palestinian media to adopt supporting approach for juvenile justice activate cooperation and real partnership between civil society institutions, finding final solutions for existing juveniles in prison with adults.
It is worth noting that the meeting was attended by Chief Justice Chancellor Sarsour, Minister of Social Affairs Ibrahim Al-Shaer, Acting Attorney General Ahmad Barrak and representatives from Ministry of Health, police and UNICEF.
Chief Justice mentioned the arrangements that had been taken by HJC in order to implement the new law and the importance of integration of juvenile justice within HJC plan and forming child friendly committee. H.E also said that HJC in process of signing MOU with Ministry of Social Affairs.
By wishing success to all participants' efforts, H.E assured the significance of Institutionalizing juvenile justice work within national strategies and plans in order to create child friendly environment.
