On Nov 5, 2016 – High Judicial Council held workshop on "Juvenile Cases" within the program of supporting Justice Sector in Palestine and funded by UNDP, with participation from General Manager of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Sharaka, Acting General Manager of IT Department Eng. Samer Hamdan, Manager of Training Department Eng. Ghaydan Bearah and Gender and Juvenile Justice Expert Mrs. Fatima Dana at HJC.
The workshop targeted newly appointed staff in juvenile courts to keep them up with all latest developments in this field and to help them deal with MEZAN program efficiently; it is worth noting that HJC works on customizing courts work mechanism to meet criteria of institutionalizing child friendly judiciary and developing specialized trainings to create new generation of courts’ staff who can establish partnership methodology that provides best services for children and facilitates use of technology in courthouses.
Eng. Samer Hamdan and Eng. Ghaydan Bearah deliver a presentation on customizing MEZAN 2 to facilitate work in juvenile courts, electronic case management system; register and case file automation, electronic communications of courts data taking into consideration a priority for juvenile cases.
Gender and Juvenile Justice Expert Mrs. Da’na presented an explanation for the new Juvenile Law, best practices for child interest; develop work mechanism to help implement law gradually. She also mentioned positive aspects of juvenile law which deals with juvenile as victims in need to be rehabilitated not forgetting that law articles call for providing protection and care for children.
It is worth noting that this workshop came to unify terminology and concepts regarding Juvenile Law and to cope with High Judicial Council policy that constantly looking at new ways to upgrade and improve the efficiency and capacity building of courts employees.
