Chief Justice Meets the Representative of the Netherlands in Palestine

Chief Justice Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar met with the Representative of the Netherlands in Palestine Mr. Kees van Baar and the delegation accompanied him to discuss ways of joint cooperation.

 

Chancellor Abu Sharar welcomed the attendance and briefed them on the reform plan of Transitional High Judicial Council and all efforts that have been done in the field of new judicial appointments and promotions; in addition to solve the shortage in the administrative staff.

 

Chancellor Abu Sharar emphasized on enhancing the independence of judiciary; and finding solutions for backlog cases and gaining back public trust in judicial system. H.E. also noted the importance of providing suitable courts' buildings to guarantee litigation environment and to achieve justice.

 

Chancellor Abu Sharar acknowledged the delegation with the process of legislations and laws' amendments that facilitate independence of judiciary and protect civil rights and freedoms, through dialogue and discussion with all partners and civil society organizations.

 

For his part, Mr. Kees van Baar assured the commitment of donors on supporting Palestinian Judiciary and participating in developing judges' abilities through providing training and courses; in addition to providing logistic support.
