Chief Justice Seeks Cooperation with Presidents of Judges' Associations in Iceland and Denmark

On May 25, 2016 – Chief Justice Chancellor Sami Sarsour met with presidents of Judges' Associations in Iceland and Denmark Judge Skuli Smagnusson and Judge Michael Larsen respectively, to discuss bilateral cooperation. The meeting was attended by President of Association of Palestinian Judges Club Judge Abed Al-Kareem Hanoun and Secretary General Judge Raed Assaf.
During the meeting, the attendance discussed ways of cooperation and building relationship between High Judicial Council and judges' associations in Iceland and Denmark, as well as exchanging expertise and knowledge to support the Association of Palestinian Judges Club.
Chancellor Sarsour explained that the Association of Palestinian Judges Club Judge is an independence body and HJC works in close relations with it for judges' best interest, H.E informed the guests that Judges' Association and Palestinian Judges Club have recently merged to be one body representing all judges.
Judge Hanoun informed the guests on work mechanism of association and its relationship with HJC.
 

Both, the presidents of Judges' Associations in Iceland and Denmark assured that the merge process is a positive point counts for the Palestinian Association and will facilitate joining to International Judges' Association. They also added that their associations will support the Palestinian application.
It is worth noting that secretary general along with the guests had a tour in Supreme Court, HJC departments, Anti-Corruption Court and Jerusalem Courts of Appeal, they also met with several judges.
