Chief Justice Discusses Ways of Implementation for Juvenile Justice Law 2016

On Feb 18, 2016 – Chief Justice Sami Sarsour met with delegation from UNICEF chaired by Special Representative June Kunigi to discuss ways of implementation for Juvenile Justice Law 2016.

Chancellor Sarsour indicated the importance of implementing the new Juvenile Justice Law, training specialized judges, integrating all justice institutions while executing the law; paying attention to the ambition plan which needs concrete efforts.

Expert in Juvenile Justice Fatima Dana pointed out to the role of Sawasya Program in supporting HJC relating to gender and juvenile justice and institutionalize juvenile justice within institutions' organizational structures, executive plans, work teams, procedures, building capacity for judges and staff, improve relationship between MOSA and child protection institutions. Sha also mentioned that MOU is being prepared after enacting the new Juvenile Law.

The delegation praised HJC interest in seeking possible ways to implement the new law; both parties agreed to hold a conference for donors to support MOSA, HJC and all justice sector institutions to execute the Juvenile Law.

It is worth noting that the meeting was attended by Legal Adviser Amer Shaheen, Director General of International Relations Mr. Badawi and Project Management Coordinator Manar Natour.
