Chief Justice Participates in Board of Directors Meeting of "Sawasya Program"

On Feb 10, 2016 – Chief Justice Sami Sarsour participated in the meeting of board of directors for UNDP/UN Women Joint Program /Sawasya – Strengthening the Rule of Law- Justice and Security for Palestinian People. Knowing that HJC is a key partner in the program in many fields: developing case management program MEZAN2, supporting planning unit in the council and notifications and executions departments in courts as well as other important areas.

Minister of Justice Ali Abu-Diak chaired the meeting at Grand Park Hotel with participantion from minister of Social Affairs, minister of Women's Affairs, head of Anti-Corruption Commission, acting head of Attorney General, director of Sawasya Program, officials, representatives of embassies, civil society institutions and donors.

H.E Sarsour thanked Sawasya Program and donors, H.E also assured the integrated relationship between key actors in justice sector indicating that HJC will work to overcome any obstacles that may face the implementing the program.

At the end of his speech, Chancellor Sarsour emphasize the importance of the continuous support for the program due to the benefits reflected on work in HJC and courts in addition to enhancing the independence of judiciary.

It is worth noting that Sawasya is the UNDP / UN Women Joint Program "Strengthening the Rule of Law- Justice and Security for Palestinian People." Launched in May 2014, the program aims at strengthening the capacities of, and public confidence in, rule of law institutions in improving access to justice, security and protection services for the Palestinian people, with a particular focus on women and children. Sawasya partners with 13 official institutions related to justice and security as well as more than 40 civil society organizations and universities throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
