Chief Justice Meets Gender Unit Experts in "Sawasya"- Rule of Law Joint Program

On Oct 31, 2017 – Chief Justice Chancellor Emad Saleem Saad met with Sawasya Program Specialist Barbra Chiarenza and Program Analyst Hanan Kamar to discuss continuous support and cooperation between HJC and Sawasya, in addition to other topics regarding the outcomes of the previous phases and future enforcement steps for the next five years.

The meeting was held in the presence of presides over Head of Ramallah Appeals Court Judge Imad Meswadeh, Appeals Court Judge Raed Asfour and Manar Al-Natour from Gender Unit.

H.E. conveyed his appreciation to Sawasya Program assuring the vision of Palestinian government which supports women's empowerment and the role of HJC to enhance women access to justice and judicial services through the efforts that had been done from judges and Gender Committee and the work to prepare law draft on protecting women.  For her part, Ms Chiarenza expressed her appreciations for all efforts that had been done to achieve goals of the program and enhance access to justice for women indicating that cooperation with donors is crucial to guarantee the continuous support for the upcoming years in addition to the importance of paying attention to the inception phase of the program through which all documentation and budget allocation will be done to continue the implementations of the program.

During the meeting, the attendee assured the importance of women's cases for public opinion in general and for justice sector in specific, which will be reflected on the amendments of the ancient law texts to meet rights of women.
