On March 14, 2016- High Judicial Council organized a workshop on "Mainstreaming Gender and Juvenile Justice within HJC Plans and Work Mechanism" in cooperation with Ministry of Women's Affairs and supported by SAWASYA Program.
The workshop was held in premises of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and targeted the technical team of Gender Unit at HJC represented by judges from First Instance and Magistrates Courts, and employees from different departments of HJC.
Secretary General of HJC Judge RaedAssaf opened the workshop with participation from Deputy of Ministry of Women's Affairs Bassam Al-Khateeb and SWASYA Program Manager Marisa Consolata.
In his speech, Judge RaedAssaf assured the importance of technical team work and considered it to be a special experience toward privatization; he also emphasized the importance of adapting the organizational structure for Gender Unit. Judge Assaf thanked SAWASYA Program for their support.
Gender and Juvenile Justice Expert Mrs. Fatima Dana delivered the training on Gender Unit's roles and its relationship to HJC and justice sector plan, its organizational structure clarifying that the unit follows chief justice directly.
Mrs. Wafa Al-Araj from Ministry of Women's Affairs talked about the MOU that has been signed On 19 Aug 2015 between HJC and Ministry of Women's Affairs.it is worth noting that the workshop concluded with several recommendations: formulation of IT team in order to add sections to MEZAN Program related to data entry based on gender perspective, joining Gender Unit to different national committees for example Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
