High Judicial Council Signs Partnership Memorandum with Ministry of Social Affairs

On March 9, 2016 – Chief Justice Chancellor Sami Sarsour signed a partnership memorandum with Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shaer to enhance cooperation and integration between both parties and to guarantee access to justice for all citizens specially women and children.

The memorandum has been signed in the presence of Acting Attorney General Ahmad Barak, Colonel Ameed al-Jabar and Stacy Weld-Blundell from SAWASYA Program.

Chief Justice indicated that signing of the memorandum is considered a quantum leap after working for so many years and after issuing the new Juvenile Law which meets with the international conventions.

The memorandum includes allocating judges to work with juveniles till establishing courts specialized for them, exchanging experience and implementing strategies relevant to juvenile justice and women victims of violence, providing child friendly environment, establishing and developing protection facilities and other issues.

It is worth noting that after signing the memorandum, workshop was held for judges and participant institutions mentioned above on "New Juvenile Law 2016".
