Chief Justice Meets Delegation from Representative of Canada

Chief Justice Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar met with delegation from Representative of Canada to the Palestinian Authority chaired by Head of Canadian Cooperation Mr. Jason Tulk, First Secretary for Justice Sector Ms. Lydia Simpson and Senior Project Officer Mr. Ra'id Malki in presence of General Manager of IT Department Eng. Samer Hamdan and Eng. Kawthar Kittana.

Chancellor Abu Sharar welcomed the attendees and praised the Canadian support for courts' constructions which will create suitable environment for litigation; considering that this support came as a result of fruitful cooperation in the area of quality specifications and designs.

For his part, Mr. Tulk expressed his appreciation to HJC cooperation and efforts to raise the standards of litigation environment and work mechanism of Palestinian judiciary; mentioning that the project of Hebron courthouse construction is one of the biggest projects that have been implemented by Canada in Palestine.

The meeting discussed briefly plans and orientations of Transitional High Judicial council for the next phase in improving the performance of judiciary system and enhancing public trust in it.

Chancellor Abu Sharar indicated that the technical committee of Hebron project is constantly following up the projects phases in cooperation with UNDP, the implementing partner of project; knowing that regular meetings are being held at construction site every two weeks. His Excellency mentioned that High Judicial Council will recruit three engineers: electrical engineer, mechanical engineer and civil engineer to follow up the work and systems that will be installed before operation phase.

The meeting also discussed Facility Management Project implemented by UNOPS.
