High Judicial Council Participates in Work Group Meeting for Justice Sector

On Dec 2, 2015 – Chief Justice Chancellor Ali Muhana indicated that the basic issue to reform justice sector is to reconsider legislations that govern justice sector institutions, in addition to take a courageous step in making law drafts starting from judicial authority.

Work group meeting was held with participation from officials in justice sector and representatives from partner institutions and donors. His Excellency assured the importance of partnership and working in broad concepts and through one vision within justice sector institutions.

Via video conference, Minister of Justice Saleem Saqa indicated that the priority of the ministry is to unify legislations in West Bank and Gaza to meet international standards in a way that copes with situation in Palestinian society. He also emphasized the importance of making legislative policy clarifies relationship between justice sector actors.

On his part, Attorney General Owewi talked about challenges facing prosecutors' work. Judge Dr. Habash stated that Shariah Judiciary, as a part of justice sector system, is facing many problems represented in the ancient laws and legislations in Shariah Courts.
