Deputy Chief Justice Opens Workshop with Military Justice Commission


On Aug 23, 2017 – Deputy Chief of Supreme Court/ Deputy Chief Justice Judge Hisham Hatu opened a workshop on (Jurisdiction of Military Appeals Court) at the headquarter of Military Justice Commission in the presence of Brigadier General Raed Taha, Head of Military Appeals Court Colonel Ahmad Abu Dayya, JSAP Project Director Mr. Emery Edward and a number of judges of Regular Appeals Courts and Military Appeals Court.

Judge Hisham Hatu affirmed during his speech on the importance of the Military Judiciary role in the Palestinian Justice Sector concerning the jurisdictions of this Judiciary in Basic Law, the Palestinian Security Forces Law No. 5 for the year 2008 and the Revolutionary Law where Judge Hisham Hatu emphasized the importance of abiding by the legal procedures insuring the rights of the accused before the Military Courts Especially his right to be represented legally in courts.

Moreover, Brigadier General Raed Taha asserted the importance of establishing a Military Appeals Court to insure additional rights for the accused. Brigadier General also emphasized on the importance of the regular judiciary’s support to military judiciary and presented his greetings and pleaser to High Judicial Council for its efforts in experience exchange between Judges of Regular Appeals Courts and Judges of Military Appeals Court.
